As part of its #BrusselsBriefings series, Eurofound is hosting an off-the-record session dedicated to its latest research on mental health. The briefing takes place on Tuesday 9 December 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 CET.

Event background
Eurofound expert Hans Dubois presents recent findings drawing comparative data, exploring how crises such as the Great Recession and COVID-19 have shaped mental-health outcomes, how different risk groups are evolving, and why social and economic conditions remain central drivers of poor mental health.
The briefing also addresses worrying recent trends, including a stalling of the decline in suicide deaths and recent increases especially among youngest and oldest age groups, and the increasing or continued strain on Europe’s mental-health systems regardless of increased capacity. Participants will gain insights into what works, where gaps persist, and how policy can strengthen prevention, inclusion and access to trustworthy, person-centred support.
This off-the-record event gives stakeholders an opportunity to engage directly with Eurofound’s expert on the most recent data and analysis. After the opening and a short presentation, the schedule will include a Q&A and an exchange of ideas with the audience.

Senior Communication ManagerCristina Arigho je vedoucí manažerkou pro komunikaci a vedoucí pro zapojení zúčastněných stran a propagaci v oddělení informací a komunikace nadace Eurofound, do agentury nastoupila v roce 2012. Předtím strávila téměř 20 let v Bruselu, kde pracovala na různých pozicích, mnoho z nich v Evropské komisi, mimo jiné jako mluvčí Generálního ředitelství pro zaměstnanost, sociální věci a sociální začleňování (2010–2012) a Generálního ředitelství pro rozpočet (2007–2009). Před nástupem do útvaru mluvčí Komise byla tiskovou referentkou GŘ pro zaměstnanost (2005–2007) a autorkou projevů pro komisaře a generálního ředitele v té době (2003–2005). Před svým působením v Komisi pracovala pro rozhlasovou a televizní stanici RTÉ (irská národní televize) v Bruselu jako asistentka produkce a výzkumná pracovnice a později jako producentka zpráv. Cristina vystudovala aplikované jazyky na Ulsterské univerzitě v Coleraine v Severním Irsku.

Senior research managerHans Dubois je vedoucím výzkumným pracovníkem v oddělení sociálních politik nadace Eurofound. Mezi jeho výzkumná témata patří bydlení, předlužení, zdravotní péče, dlouhodobá péče, sociální dávky, důchod a kvalita života v místní oblasti. Před nástupem do nadace Eurofound působil jako odborný asistent na Kozminského univerzitě ve Varšavě. Získal doktorát v oboru Business Administration and Management na Bocconiho univerzitě (Milán) poté, co pracoval jako výzkumný pracovník na Evropské observatoři zdravotnických systémů a politik (Madrid).
