How is climate change impacting Europeans and how prepared are they? A new snapshot of Europe’s climate resilience reveals that most Europeans have already been directly affected by extreme weather and are highly concerned about future climate impacts, yet their preparedness remains limited.
A joint report by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and Eurofound, to be published on 4 February 2026, explores Europeans’ experience of climate-related impacts, concern about future impacts, and resilience actions taken by households and local authorities.
It highlights how climate resilience varies across regions and demographic groups, including populations that are particularly vulnerable. Importantly, the report provides the first Europe-wide overview of implemented climate resilience measures – both at the household and local authority level.
The report draws on data collected from the 2025 Eurofound Living and Working in the EU e-survey, which included over 27,000 respondents across EU-27 countries.

Michele Consolini
Research officerMichele Consolini trabalha como investigador na unidade de Políticas Sociais da Eurofound. Ele fornece experiência quantitativa em várias questões, incluindo coesão social e confiança, mudanças climáticas e qualidade de vida, convergência e gerenciamento de pesquisas. Sua pesquisa atual analisa o papel da polarização na coesão social e na confiança e os desafios socioeconômicos da transição para uma economia neutra em carbono. Ele é bacharel em Sociologia e Economia pela Alma Mater Studiorum em Bolonha, Itália, e pela Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, Holanda.
