Ivailo Kalfin
Ivailo Kalfin kam am 1. Juni 2021 als Exekutivdirektor zu Eurofound. Die Expertise von Kalfin erstreckt sich über eine Reihe von Bereichen, von der Dynamik des Arbeitsmarktes und der Sozialpolitik über globale politische Trends, die EU und den Haushalt bis hin zur digitalen Transformation. Er hat fünf Hauptprioritäten für seine Rolle bei Eurofound skizziert: Unterstützung des Mainstreaming des ökologischen und digitalen Wandels in Europa; Ergänzung der Umsetzung des Aktionsplans zur europäischen Säule sozialer Rechte durch evidenzgestützte Forschung; verstärkte Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Organisationen und externen Partnern und stärkere Kontakte zu den Ländern der Europäischen Nachbarschaftspolitik; Unterstützung des Auf- und Ausbaus der Kapazitäten der Sozialpartner im Zuständigkeitsbereich der Agentur; Schärfung des Profils von Eurofound bei den wichtigsten Interessenträgern.

Diese Analyse, die sich auf Daten aus der Europäischen Erhebung über die Arbeitsbedingungen 2024 von Eurofound und dem EU-SILC stützt, untersucht die Lücke bei der Beteiligung an frühkindlicher Betreuung, Bildung und Erziehung und kommt zu dem Schluss, dass die Lösung in einer engagierten und gut unterstützten Belegschaft liegt.

2022 in review
The dawn of 2022 brought muted optimism to a Europe beginning to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the progress of vaccination programmes worldwide brought hope. Government and EU support during the pandemic had kept unemployment at bay, averting the widescale collapse of businesses. In step with the EU’s plans for the year, Eurofound’s focus was firmly on a post-pandemic Europe: the recovery and the twin transition to a green and digital economy. All this changed with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the start of a war of aggression. The EU and its institutions were compelled to respond rapidly.

Europe Day: Europe’s future hangs in the balance
Today is Europe Day, and one hundred young people from Ireland and Ukraine will be marking the event at Eurofound, in peaceful south Dublin. Europe Day has traditionally been seen as a celebration of peace and unity in Europe, but, unfortunately, it must be marked differently this year. Europe Day 2022 must rather reaffirm the values of Europe: human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law and human rights. These values are now being tested daily and must be rigorously defended for the future of Europe and the future of our young people.

We need to study and understand the blow Europe’s youth have suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to adjust recovery and resilience measures to their needs: without prioritising young people in the present, we have little hope for the future.

Maria Jepsen
Deputy DirectorEurofound
Maria Jepsen ist stellvertretende Direktorin von Eurofound und wurde am 1. November 2019 ernannt. Sie koordiniert die Programmentwicklung der Agentur. Zuvor war sie Direktorin der Forschungsabteilung des Europäischen Gewerkschaftsinstituts (ETUI) sowie Assistenzprofessorin und Research Fellow an der Freien Universität Brüssel (ULB). Derzeit ist sie außerdem außerordentliche Professorin für Arbeitsökonomie an der ULB und externe Dozentin am Europakolleg in Brügge, Belgien. Zu ihren Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören die Geschlechterforschung, der Einfluss von Wohlfahrtsstaaten auf das Arbeitsangebot, Löhne und Arbeitsbedingungen sowie die Entwicklung der europäischen sozialen Dimension. Frau Jepsen war Mitglied verschiedener Ausschüsse, Räte und Beiräte auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene zu Beschäftigungs-, Sozial-, Gleichstellungs- und Forschungsfragen und war außerdem als Koordinatorin im dreigliedrigen beratenden Ausschuss der Europäischen Kommission für Gesundheit und Sicherheit am Arbeitsplatz tätig. Sie hat einen Doktortitel in Volkswirtschaftslehre und einen Master-Abschluss in Ökonometrie von der Freien Universität Brüssel (ULB).

Anna Ludwinek
Liaison Manager - Brussels Liaison OfficeEurofound
Anna Ludwinek ist Verbindungsmanagerin im Brüsseler Verbindungsbüro von Eurofound, dem sie seit 2019 beitritt. Ihr Zuständigkeitsbereich liegt vor allem in der Koordination der Arbeit des Brüsseler Büros, einschließlich der Beziehungen zur Europäischen Kommission, zum Europäischen Parlament, zum Rat und zu Think-Tanks. Zuvor war Anna als Forschungsmanagerin im Referat Sozialpolitik für die Arbeit zu generationenübergreifender sozialer Mobilität und Chancengleichheit, Jugendungleichheit und Zugang zu Sozialleistungen verantwortlich. Zuvor war sie bei Eurofound unter anderem für die Leitung eines Europäischen Netzwerks von Städten für lokale Integrationsmaßnahmen (CLIP) tätig und befasste sich mit Fragen rund um Vielfalt, Wohnen, interkulturelle Politik und ethnisches Unternehmertum. Weitere Forschungsschwerpunkte waren die Wiedereingliederung von langfristig ausgegrenzten Gruppen in den Arbeitsmarkt und die Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung auf soziale Dienstleistungen. Anna hat einen MA in Politikwissenschaft von der Universität Warschau und einen BA in Internationalen Beziehungen und einen MA in Sozialangewandter Forschung vom Trinity College Dublin.
Robbie Stakelum
Brussels Liaison OfficerEurofound
Robbie Stakelum ist Verbindungsbeauftragter für Brüssel und zuständig für den Europäischen Wirtschafts- und Sozialausschuss, die Sozialpartner und die Europäische Kommission. Seit 2014 arbeitet er in Brüssel mit dem Schwerpunkt Sozial- und Beschäftigungspolitik.
