În cei 10 ani din 2014 până în 2024, numărul lucrătorilor din serviciile sociale din UE a crescut de la 8 milioane la 10 milioane. În prezent, acestea reprezintă 5 % din totalul forței de muncă din UE. În același timp, sectorul se confruntă cu deficit de forță de muncă și continuă să fie caracterizat de salarii mici – cu aproximativ 20 % mai puțin decât salariul mediu din economiile statelor membre în ansamblu.
