Reaching out to the national level

This initiative took place in the context of Eurofound’s ongoing efforts to reach out to the national level and ensure widespread dissemination and dialogue with respect to its research findings.

Increasing levels of labour shortages in Europe are limiting production, service delivery, competitiveness as well as increasing work intensification in several sectors and causing growing concern for policymakers and companies in Member States across the EU. Eurofound has carried out extensive research in the area of tackling labour shortages. This Virtual Visit to Austria looked at the measures to tackle labour shortages and how these measures can be tailored to address different drivers, such activation polices and the mismatch between skills and jobs, drawing on examples from different countries and companies. Particular attention was paid to the impact of job quality on labour shortages and measures to increase the attractiveness of specific sectors and occupations.

Eurofound experts have previously presented and shared evidence-based data on this topic at the Council of Minister meetings organised under the EU Presidencies, at the European Parliament, to the European Commission and at many other high-level events.

Speakers

Eurofound Deputy Director Maria Jepsen opened the event and contextualised the topic within Eurofound’s work programme, followed by short presentations from our experts Tina Weber, Research Manager and Dragoș Adăscăliței, Research Officer. Participants joined the discussion with Mary McCaughey, Head of Unit, Information and Communication moderating the event.

This event took place in collaboration with Eurofound’s Austria's Board Members and with its correspondent in Austria.
